Artificial Intelligence

Status:Active, full but can join waiting list
Convenor:
When: On Wednesday mornings 11:00 am-12:30 pm
Last Wednesday in month
Venue: Garvie & Co

Over the past few years the Artificial Intelligence (AI)  landscape has become ubiquitous and ever more inclusive. Everybody seems to be talking about AI and everything seems to be driven by AI.  The reason for this is primarily due to the arrival of AI ChatGPT in 2017 soon followed by a number of competing resources.  These were originally used in large language models for applications such as text generation from a given prompt, language translation, and language sentiment analysis.  The applications domain has rapidly diversified to the point that it is now possible  to create new images, video segments, song, music and much more all from an appropriate text prompt.

The B&M U3a AI Group has the following aims:

  • to organise talks given by  individuals who successfully use AI tools in their day-to-day  activities
  • to show members how to access valuable resources, tutorials, and guides tailored to their interests
  • to empower members by introducing them to AI technology in an approachable manner
  • to foster a supportive community where members can share experiences and learn from each other, hence fostering teamwork
  • to demystify the field of AI so that using many AI tools becomes as natural as doing a Google Search
  • to engage in regular hands-on demonstrations to provide members skills on how to effectively use AI tools like ChatGPT  focussing on practical applications of AI in daily life

Meetings are held on the last Weds of each month in Garvie’s Restaurant (upstairs), Milngavie at 11am for a maximum of 90 minute. One key objective at the meetings is for all to have a fun and enjoyable time with good learning outcomes.
