Status:Active, full but can join waiting list
Convenor:
When: On Mondays
2nd Monday of month
Venue: Milngavie Community Education Centre

The new Astronomy Group are enthusiastic about gaining an appreciation of the wonders of the Universe. Without any real expertise in the subject, we are learning little by little. We take it in turn to choose a topic for the next meeting and each of us does a bit of home research and then post to our WhatsApp group something interesting that we have found on the topic.

At our meetings (monthly) we then discuss the posts…often in the form of a short video. The online resources available from the BBC, NASA, ESA and others are excellent. Five minutes of video from someone like Prof. Brian Cox will generate an enjoyable discussion as we try to make sense of what we’ve seen.
Topics so far – Size of the Universe, The Little Planets and the Big Bang Theory.  Coming next, “Asteroids”. Group Members can also suggest outings or visits.

We are currently about the right size for a discussion group, so are not looking for new members. We already have a few people who would like to be in the group but are unable to attend on Monday. With a few more names it will be easy to start Astronomy 2… so please contact Dorothy to say if you’re interested.

We meet monthly on the second Monday of the month in Milngavie CE Centre.
