The Convenor for a Group (name highlighted in blue, click to contact) should be contacted prior to attending a Group for the first time. Non-members may attend one Group meeting before joining.

From the list of potential new groups the following are making progress or have already started.
Pickleball for Fun; Running; Table Tennis 2; Classical Fiction; Memoir Writing; Whist; Guitar.

Sadly, most of the other ideas for groups are going nowhere fast, despite a lot of apparent interest.
All we’re lacking is somebody/anybody (YOU, perhaps?) to suggest to the others who share your interest…”how about we meet up for a coffee and a chat?” and see if we can get this group off the ground. Typically, half the people who said they were interested will agree. The worst that could happen is having a coffee with some other members who share your interest and deciding it is all too difficult. More likely, with input from others, you will find a way to take things further. If it works, then great…if it doesn’t, then at least you tried. If you want to give it a go, please just contact me and I’ll put you in contact Groups Coordinator with the others. By all means make clear that you are unwilling to take on a traditional Convenor role and that you feel the group could work if the tasks were shared - see March article  ..

Starting any new Groups

Anyone can start an interest group on any subject as long. You don’t need to be an expert. All that is required is an interest in a subject or activity.
If you wish to start a new interest group, just send an email to the Groups Coordinator who will help you. With a membership of about 800 there is often other people who share your interest.– not all ideas turn into groups. Most do.....
