As announced by u3a member, Josephine Oboh-Macleod, at Tuesday’s Monthly Meeting, her Milngavie-Based "JOM Charity" is running a project aimed at strengthening links between different communities. The project, “For Art’s Sake”, includes a photography competition open exclusively to our members. Photographs of NATURE are invited in 3 categories and the submitted entries are now available to view by clicking the appropriate link below (competition is closed, but voting by participants is taking place).

at “For Arts Sake” Celebration @ Milngavie Week from 4 to 6pm International food & refreshments & music afterwards.

Conditions & Rules: COMPETETION now CLOSED
1) The Competition is open to all Bearsden & Milngavie U3A members who wish to participate.
2) Entries may be colour or black & white.
3) A maximum of one entry per photographer is allowed in each of the categories.
4) All entries should be work taken within the competition period 18th March to 15th May 2025.
5) Entries should be submitted by email to JOM Charity’s email address jomcharityforartsake@gmail.com by no later than midnight 16th May 2025
KEY REQUIREMENTS
The image should be in .jpeg format with the Title as the filename. The aspect ratio should be 5x4 Landscape or 4x5 Portrait to permit mounting for exhibition. The image file size should not exceed 20Mb.
Regrettably images not meeting these requirements will not be included as entries.
The email submitting the image should make clear which category the image is being submitted for…so “Image for Farmers Market Competition”. A separate email should be sent for each entry (multiple images should not be sent in a single email). Name, membership number and mobile number should be clearly stated.
6) Participants themselves will choose the winners by secret ballot (where they may not vote for their own photo).
1st, 2nd & 3rd prize will be announced in each category.

Other Activities for your diary
The project will run a studio lighting portraiture photography workshop on Friday, 6th June, 2025 from 11am to 4pm. JOM Charity Heritage Centre, 26A Station Road, Milngavie, Glasgow, G62 8AB
On Saturday 7th June 2025 photographers are welcome to visit Milngavie Art, Book & Music festival stand, and participate in activities including life painting, sculpting & photography demonstration of vintage cars on display for Milngavie week.
