The Historical Fiction group met for the first time in the Waitrose community Room, in May 2025.

Our first choice of book was The Siege of Krishnapur by J G Farrell, a tale of a flashpoint in Britain’s imperial history in India.
A review of the time it was first published ( in 1973) said. ‘For a novel to be witty is one thing, to tell a good story is another, to be serious is yet another, but to be all three is surely enough to make it a masterpiece.’ ( New Statesman).
